Instructions on utilizing Protonmail with your shared hosting or domain
Although Semayra doesn't provide any warranties or promises, Protonmail has consistently demonstrated its trustworthiness and security as an email provider, offering PGP encryption as a default setting and a range of additional features that are commonly advised to safeguard the privacy and security of your email communications.
This guide will walk you through the process of integrating their email platform with your custom domain, which requires setup with our nameservers. Note that you have the flexibility to host your website or application on our VPS, Dedicated Servers, or Shared hosting plans while still utilizing their email services.
Based on the present service offerings, this particular feature is exclusively available to customers who have bought one of the paid packages. This guide is designed under the assumption that you have procured a package from Proton mail and possess a domain or shared hosting plan through Semayra.
1 - Login into Protonmail, Click on "Settings", on the left side menu "Domains
2 - After entering your domain, a TXT-DNS will be created. You need to include this record in your CPanel account.
3 - Access your CPanel dashboard and locate the "ZONE EDITOR" feature.
4 - In the 'Zone Editor' section, select the 'Manage' option associated with your specific domain name.
5 - To the right of the Add Record button, select TXT. In the new fields that appear, enter yourdomain.tld and the record needed for Proton mail. Finally, click on "Add Record".
6 - Protonmail will have visibility of this record shortly, although it may require between 4 to 24 hours for it to be processed. Protonmail's system is set up to send an email notification once the record has been successfully detected.
7 - Set up the email address as needed, then click on the SAVE button. Once the account configuration is complete, ensure that the MX DNS records are properly configured.
8 - You can create or edit MX-DNS records in the 'ZONE EDITOR' within your cPanel.
9 - You can create or edit MX-DNS, TXT, and CNAME records in the 'ZONE EDITOR' section of your cPanel, which is used for DKIM, SPF, and DMARC configurations. The records should be formatted as follows:
